Savannahlander Rail & Road Trail 2014

See the Outback as never before…………

savannahlander 6Affectionately know as the “Silver Bullet” when you step aboard this 1960’s Rail Motor at Cairns your 4 Day Outback Adventure has begun for the approx 800km rail journey to the end of the line and heritage listed railway station in the former mining town of Forsayth then return from Einasleigh.

The Savannahlander Train has the line to itself so if you want to take photos along the way or sneak up on some wallabies, just ask the driver to stop and your request will be granted with a smile.

You can even have a seat in the driver’s cabin for a better view ahead the only thing you can’t do is drive the train!

The mood is relaxed and friendly, you’ll see the outback as never before.  The first night stay is at Chillagoe Tourist Village and you will have the chance to do a caves tour or just relax.

On day two when the train arrives at Forsayth we will be transferred to our overnight accommodation at Cobbold Gorgsavannahlander 10e. An early breakfast before we board the boat for a 1.5 hour river cruise of the spectacular Cobbold Gorge. After a quick coffee our coach will be ready to depart on our road trip back to Cairns via the scenic Palmerston Highway. A break for lunch at the Einasleigh Pub, a refreshment stop at Forty Mile Scrub National Park then on to Milla Milla for a light dinner at the quaint Falls Teahouse before arriving home with a camera full of memories.
