Departing Cairns we travel via the Gilles Highway for Devonshire Morning tea at popular Lake Barrine lakeside Teahouse amongst beautiful terraced gardens. Lake Barrine offers one of the most beautiful and relaxing environments in the tropics
At “Rainforest Heart” farm gate we are taken on an exclusive drive down into this stunning hidden valley. Be awe inspired and immersed in the rainforest around us as we travel into a perfect hideaway. This farmer guided tour takes you through a native fruit orchard to then taste the fruits as evolution has created them while you enjoy a cup of Davidsons plum tea
Rainforest Heart is a sustainable orchard in the middle of the World Heritage listed tropical north QLD rainforest and grow ancient Australian native rainforest fruit species such as the Davidsons Plum, using these fruits to make healthy fruit teas, spice blends amongst other condiments. The orchard is also increasing habitat for native wildlife including the endangered cassowary, who visits often to feast on fallen fruits!
Lunch* at Out of the Whey “Cheesery & Teahouse” at Mungalli Creek Dairy with a Cheese Tasting too. Established in 1920, the farm is surrounded on three sides by World Heritage rainforest and is located just above Mungalli Falls
Returning via the Palmerston Highway we stop at Crawford’s Lookout to take in the spectacular view and then to whet your whistle, a cool ale* or soft drink* at the historic State Hotel in Babinda before we arrive in Cairns
